Absorb is proud to present Third Space’s latest EP, dot points.

Third Space has firmly cemented himself back into that head-snapping drum ‘n bass percussion he initially poked his head through. While his recent jaunt for Longform Editions reached into smeared and smudged time portals, stretching time into its most razor-thin edge, this release brings these two worlds together in harmony. Although, those abstract whirlpools have reappeared, through noise and blown out static-as-percussion akin to Emptyset, Ikeda etc. etc.

Throughout dot points, there is an acute awareness around how much solid ground to allow an audience. An instinctive ear for rhythm and texture pushes composition to its limits but keeps more recognisable elements an arm’s length away, keeping immersion consistent, constant – an idea that’s been in Third Space’s work from the start. The tracks are daringly short but remain fully fledged songs, rich with layer and consideration, percussion building as lyrical prose, unwinding stanza by stanza.

While definitely drifting back into the realm of dance music, this is not Third Space leaving drone and tonal shifts behind him. This is merely dipping his toes back into the water of the world he first started in, ready to contribute something new after coming up for air.
